"The rumors were true: co-op is coming to Dead Space. Our reluctant hero is going to be joined by John Carver, a hardened soldier with little patience for all of Isaac Clarke’s “feelings.”

Co-op is going to be an optional, but deeply integrated part of the story. The relationship between Clarke and Carver is the most important in the game, and it’s going to play out differently depending on whether you’re playing the game single player or co-op.

That’s not the only big change. We’ve got humanoid opponents, a cover system, and dual wield incorporated. If it feels like a far cry from the tense survival horror of the first game, it’s because it is.The Dead Space franchise moving farther and farther from the lonely, terrifying “Resident Evil in space” concept that made the original game so gripping. That’s a good thing – a franchise should grow from game to game, and Isaac Clarke himself is quickly becoming a hardened necromorph killer rather than an engineer out of his depth."
