The game will run on IO Interactive's proprietary Glacier 2 game engine, forgoing classic Hitman game mechanics in favor brand new gameplay features inspired by more modern titles such as Splinter Cell: Conviction.

IO Interactive introduced "Contracts" mode earlier today. It's a new online mode that allows players to set up different scenarios to compete with friends for the best score. It doesn't require all parties be online at once. It's more akin to a "ghost" level in a racing game. Choose your level, enemies, weapons and adjust the rules based on time of completion, style, and witnesses.
